Recently, we had reported that Nissan will launch the third-generation X-Trail in India with a petrol hybrid powerplant (click here to read report). A search on zauba.com reveals that the company has imported a couple of units of the SUV. These vehicles will most likely be used for the launch of the car, which is expected to take place at the 2016 Auto Expo.

The new X-Trail is underpinned by Renault-Nissan's CMF-C/D platform. It features a more curvy design in comparison to the boxy first and second-generation models and uses the same design language as other SUVs and crossovers from Nissan's model range. The vehicle also features more modern interiors than the older model.

In Japan, the X-Trail hybrid comes with a 2.0-litre petrol engine (MR20DD) that develops 145 BHP @ 6,000 rpm and 207 Nm of torque @ 4,400 rpm. The engine is assisted by an electric motor that produces 40 BHP and 160 Nm of torque. The engine is mated to a CVT automatic gearbox. The car is also equipped with an electronic four-wheel drive system.
