Ola to set up new battery R&D facility in Bangalore

The company will invest US$500 million in the new facility, which will be one of the largest and most advanced in the world.

Ola Electric has announced it will invest US$500 million to set up an EV battery R&D facility in Bangalore.

According to the company, the Battery Innovation Centre (BIC) will be one of the largest and most advanced cell R&D facilities in the world.

BIC will house prototype lines for cylindrical, pouch, coin and prismatic cells. It will be equipped to produce anode and cathode material, an integrated facility for Nanoscale analysis, Molecular Dynamics simulation and crystal structure analysis.

BIC plans to recruit fresh talent, including 500 PhDs and engineers, who will be supported by around 1,000 researchers from India and across the world.
