According to reports, OnX, an off-roading app launched in 2019, has recently introduced an in-house turn-by-turn navigation system.
The new navigation system allows customers to locate an off-road trail and go directly to it, as you would on Google Maps. Previously, the app had off-road trail locations stored but needed a third-party navigation app to reach the area. Now, the turn-by-turn navigation feature installed in the existing app eliminates that need.
OnX app, which is supported on Android & Apple, offers an extensive amount of detail on private lands to its customers (for a subscription fee) to access its off-road trails. The system even filters trails for four and two-wheelers, along with snowmobiles as well.
The app uses customer feedback, notes, and images of obstacles and other points of interest. Even after starting the off-road trail, the feature navigates you with directions along the path, even rerouting if you take a detour.
Rory Edwards, General Manager, OnX, stated, "This is the kind of feature that gets you pumped to hit the trail." He further added, "OnX Navigation is for anyone who craves adventure and needs to keep their focus on the trail in front of them. Whether you’re tackling rocky climbs or cruising through desert washes, this feature keeps you dialled in, letting you enjoy the thrills of the trail while knowing exactly where you’re headed."
