Over 47,000 Skoda & VW cars recalled in India over faulty seatbelts

The recall affects the Skoda Kushaq, Slavia and Kylaq and the VW Virtus and Taigun.

Skoda Auto VW India has recalled the Skoda Kylaq, Slavia and Kushaq and the Volkswagen Taigun and Virtus over faulty rear seatbelts.

According to the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM), 25,722 Skoda models and 21,513 VW models manufactured between May 24, 2024, and April 1, 2025, have been affected by the recall.

According to the company, affected units of the Kushaq, Slavia and Kylaq have a faulty rear seatbelt buckle latch plate. Besides this, the webbing of the rear centre seatbelt assembly and the buckle of the rear right seatbelt may fail.

Skoda Auto VW India is reaching out to owners of the affected vehicles to notify them about the recall. Customers can also check if their vehicle is among those recalled by entering their Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) on the brand’s official website. The faulty parts will be replaced free of cost.
