Porsche reveals Macan with 4-cylinder engine at Beijing Show

German carmaker Porsche has revealed a four-cylinder variant of its smallest SUV, the Macan at the Beijing International Automobile Exhibition. It is the first road-going Porsche since the 968 to be equipped with a four-pot motor.

The 4-cylinder Macan uses the same 2.0-litre, turbocharged TSI unit that is found in the VW Golf GTi. The engine produces 234 bhp and 350 Nm of torque and is mated to a 7-speed dual-clutch PDK automatic gearbox. A four-wheel drive system comes as standard. Porsche claims that the Macan can do a 0-100 sprint in 6.9 seconds and touch a top speed of 223 kph. The four-cylinder Macan can return about 13 kpl and has a CO2 emission rate of 175 g/km.

The new variant can be distinguished from the S and Turbo by its badging, tail pipes and wheels.

The four-cylinder Macan will go on sale in China initially.
