Range Rover gets new 3.0-litre V6 Diesel Engine

The new Range Rover is now available with a 3.0 TDV6 diesel engine that offers 255 BHP of power and some serious torque at 600 Nm, coupled with a state-of-the-art quick shifting ZF 8-speed automatic gearbox.

No wonder then, that the new diesel engine is seriously quick too, wafting its occupants from 0 to 100 kmph in just 7.9 seconds. That's merely a second slower than the 4.4 L diesel version.

Fuel economy is significantly better and as we all know, these things matter in India, no matter what class of car or SUV.

Importantly, the new engine option broadens the Range Rover's appeal as it is cheaper and more practical than the 4.4 L V8 Diesel and 5.0 Litre Supercharged V8 Petrol. Approximate prices for the new variant are pegged as per media reports at Rs 1.44 Crore for HSE trim and Rs 1.64 Crore in higher spec, Vogue trim.

Price will be the key selling point of the 3.0 L diesel. At initial launch, before the 3.0 L diesel arrived, the Range Rover was priced between Rs. 1.72 - 1.84 Crores (ex-Delhi). Since all Range Rovers are imported as CBU's, they will attract the 25 % hike in excise duty.

The 5.0 L Petrol will merely occupy space as the range topper and the real sales come from the diesel variants. The new engine option will offer a slightly more economical way to travel in the lap of luxury.
