Ravi Avalur to head Harley-Davidson business in India

Avalur will report to Dr. Pawan Munjal, Chairman & CEO, Hero MotoCorp.

Hero MotoCorp has appointed Ravi Avalur as the Business Unit Head of Harley-Davidson's India operations. Avalur will report to Dr. Pawan Munjal, Chairman & CEO, Hero MotoCorp.

Avalur was the Head of Strategy and International Business of Cooper - an engine and engine component manufacturer. Prior to Cooper he was the Managing Director of Ducati India.

Last year, Harley-Davidson decided to exit the Indian market as part of its global restructuring plan. Hero MotoCorp was appointed as the brand's distribution partner in India.

11 existing dealers are now onboard. These include dealers in Kolkata, Mumbai, Ahmedabad, Pune, Bangalore, Chennai, Kochi, Bhubaneshwar, Delhi, Dehradun and Hyderabad. There are plans to further expand into other cities through Hero's extensive dealer network.

The company has commenced wholesale dispatches of Harley-Davidson products to the dealers from January 18, 2021.
