Renault India - 5 new launches in next 3 years

Renault India have officially revealed their plans to launch 5 new models between 2017 and 2019. This aggressive strategy of the French automaker is mainly a resultant of the success that it experienced with its entry-level offering, the Renault Kwid. The automaker, in the next three years, will try to strengthen its hold in different segments of the Indian car market.

Currently, Renault India has just two hot-selling products in its portfolio; the Duster and the Kwid. But the company seems to acknowledge the fact that multi-segment presence is essential to make a significant mark in the Indian market. As a result, the 5 stated launches will aim to achieve a much broader presence for the brand.

Though deeper details about which products are slated for launch in India aren't yet available, Renault would try to focus on the SUV segment, which is one of the fastest growing marketplaces of the Indian car scene.

The first new Renault product to launch in the Indian market would be the Megane sedan, which made its global premiere last week. In India, the Megane sedan will be placed a bit higher than the Honda City. It would closely be followed by the next-gen Renault Koleos, which will be introduced in India later in 2017 or in early 2018. The Renault Kaptur will be another product that the manufacturer would introduce in India. The Kaptur would be a 7-seater crossover, and will be pitted against the Hyundai Creta and Honda BR-V. The other two models expected to be launched in the next three years include a van that will compete with the Maruti Omni and Eeco, and a compact SUV offering that would rival the Vitara Brezza.

Additionally, Renault will also introduce a number of enhancements of its existing range of products in the second half of 2016. This would include the Kwid AMT and the Kwid 1.0-litre models, that are scheduled to launch during this year's festive season.
