Renault Kwid 1.0 launched, just 22k costlier than Kwid 0.8

Renault India has launched the Kwid 1.0-litre at prices starting from Rs. 3,82,776, ex-showroom Delhi. This makes it merely Rs. 22,000 costlier than the 800 cc Kwid. The Kwid 1.0 will be offered in just two variants, RXT and RXT (O), with the latter getting a driver side airbag. The Kwid 1.0 RXT (O) is priced at Rs. 3,95,776, ex-showroom, Delhi.

The biggest change on the Kwid 1.0 is obviously under the hood. It is powered by a 1.0-litre, three-cylinder, SCe petrol engine that develops 67 BHP @ 5,500 rpm and 91 Nm of torque at 4,250 rpm. This engine is mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox. An AMT will also be offered in the future, which is reported to be scheduled for a festive season launch. The larger engine has increased weight of the Kwid by 39 kg.

Cosmetically, the only difference between the Kwid 1.0 and its smaller sibling is the silver ORVMs and checkered black and silver decal on the lower part of the doors, which also has a '1.0' sticker. There are no changes on the inside either.

Features on offer are identical to that of the Kwid 0.8, and include a 7-inch touch screen based infotainment system that supports navigation, a digital instrument cluster, and a rear spoiler. In terms of safety, the Kwid 1.0 gets a driver side airbag in the RXT (O) variant, and also comes with seatbelt pretensioners and load limiters.
