Renault XBA (Kayou) to be unveiled on May 20, 2015

Here are some more images of the upcoming Renault XBA budget hatchback. As we reported earlier, the car is likely to be named Kayou (click here to read report) and now, a media report claims that it will be unveiled on May 20, 2015.

The Kayou will be a part of the Common Module Family or CMF platform developed by the Renault-Nissan Alliance. For the smallest and least expensive cars, the group will call the platform CMF-A. The upcoming Datsun Redi-Go will also use the same platform. The Kayou is rumoured to have SUVish styling and sufficient wheel travel to help it tackle Indian roads.

Renault is expected to use a new 800 cc, twin cam, three-cylinder petrol engine to power the Kayou. Codenamed BR-8, this engine will have four valves per cylinder and is likely to come with two gearbox options - manual and automated manual transmission.

The Renault Kayou will be a rival for the Maruti Suzuki Alto 800 and the Hyundai Eon. It is likely to be manufactured at Renault-Nissan's Chennai facility.
