Review: SW Motech top box & side bags for my Ducati Multistrada

While my Tiger had the OEM hard case side panniers, I had been meaning to switch to semi rigid soft bags for my Multi. Enter, the SW Motech Sys Bag set up which accommodates up to 40L in each bag. This has finally been supplemented with an SW Motech top box as well now, as of earlier this week.

The advantage of these generic luggage set ups of course is that even when I sell my ADV and buy the next one, this can entirely move onto the next bike, with only model specific pannier mounts etc to be purchased.

The second aspect I like about the SW Motech side bags is that the aluminum plate at the bag sits full time on the bags instead of on the pannier mount. This (IMO) gives the pannier mounts and side profile of the bike a cleaner look than if I were using the Kriega OS / Givi equivalent since on those models the mounting plate sits full time on the pannier mounts, which robs the bike of a clean look when the bags are off the bike. I’m also including a pic of the bike with “just” the pannier mounts to illustrate.
