Revised conditions to purchase vehicles through CSD

Recently, the conditions for purchasing a 4-wheeler through the Canteen Stores Department have been revised.

As per the revised sanctions, Officers (including retired personnel) can purchase a vehicle upto 3,000 cc, once in a period of four years. The cc restriction was 2,500 earlier.

Honorary Commissioned officers and equivalent (including retired personnel) can purchase upto 2,500 cc cars once in seven years, instead of 1,500 cc cars.

Junior commissioned officers and equivalent (including retired personnel) can purchase cars upto 2,000 cc once during service and once after retirement. The first car can be purchased only after 10 years of service and the gap between the two cars have to be minimum 10 years. Persons Below Officer Rank and equivalent, can buy upto 1,800 cc cars with the frequency criteria remaining the same.

Civilian Officers paid out of defense estimates and officers of CSD (Grade pay 6600 and above) can now purchase vehicles of upto 3,000 cc once in four years.
