Rode Bengaluru to Trivandrum on my Aprilia RS457 for Christmas holidays

I had planned to ride up the Bodi hills to Bodimettu, as I had visited long back and fell in love with those ghat roads.

BHPian JSaarinen recently shared this with other enthusiasts:

I am sharing my experience of a ride I undertook on my Aprilia RS457 (whom I call "Furiosa") from Bangalore to my hometown of Trivandrum during the 2024 Christmas holidays. The idea was to ride the Bodi Ghats and the Munnar Gap Road before making it to Trivandrum.

I started early on 24th December, and by sun break, I had crossed Hosur and was on my way toward Salem. The highway towards Salem had some diversion due to road work, which led to a few traffic blocks. Once past Salem, the deviations and traffic are reduced.

I stopped at Karur to fill up and rode further towards Dindigul. Furiosa was singing on the highways, the torquey motor barely breaking a sweat!

From Dingidul, I deviated towards Theni. The views opened up, but it was baking hot.

I had planned to ride up the Bodi hills to Bodimettu, as I had visited long back and fell in love with those ghat roads. I stopped at Green Royale resorts after Bodinayakanur for lunch.

I savored their delicious biryani in the Dindigul style. The Bodi ghats lay ahead, a serpentine stretch of road I was sure Furiosa would love. As the climb started, the majestic views of the valleys of Theni were visible.

From what I remember, the road quality had degraded, but it wasn't uncomfortable at any point in time.

I stayed at Chill Berg Resort near Bodimettu for the night. The location and views from the resort are breathtaking.

At night, one could see Theni lit up in the distance

I enjoyed a nice bonfire and supper and went off to sleep.

The Munnar Gap road awaited tomorrow.
