Royal Enfield’s first EV to be based on L-platform

The report states that the L-platform will spawn a range of products.

Royal Enfield has been working on an all-electric motorcycle for quite some time now. Known internally as the ‘Electrik01’, the bike is said to be in its initial phases of development. Now, a new report sheds more light on the brand’s first electric bike.

Royal Enfield’s first electric bike is likely to be launched around the second half of next year. It will reportedly be based on a new 96V architecture, known internally as the ‘L-platform’.

According to the company, the 96V system would ensure better performance. It also intends to create “uniquely differentiated” electric motorcycles.

The report states that the L-platform will spawn a range of products. Depending on the body style, the platforms have been designated as L1A, L1B and L1C.

Earlier, an image of the Royal Enfield Electrik01 concept bike had surfaced online. It showcased a neo-retro design with a brushed aluminium frame and a girder fork setup.
