Royal Enfield Classic 500 Pegasus launched at Rs. 2.49 lakh

Royal Enfield has launched the limited edition Classic 500 'Pegasus' in India. A total of 1,000 units will be sold globally out of which only 250 bikes will be sold in India, each priced at Rs. 2,49,217 (on-road, Mumbai). Interested buyers can register online on Royal Enfield's website. The official sale starts on July 10, 2018.

The Classic 500 Pegasus edition was unveiled last week in the UK. It is based on the Classic 500 and is inspired by the RE/WD 125 Flying Flea motorcycle from World War II. In India, the motorcycle will be available in Service Brown shade with the Pegasus logo, badges and a unique serial number stencilled on the fuel tank. The engine, exhaust, wheels, handlebar and headlamp bezel are painted black. The bike comes with canvas panniers, leather straps around the air box and brass buckles similar to the ones found on the World War era bike. Additionally, Royal Enfield is offering a helmet and t-shirt from the Pegasus collection with each bike.

Powering the Classic 500 Pegasus is a 499 cc, single-cylinder, air-cooled engine that produces 27.2 BHP @ 5,250 rpm and 41.3 Nm @ 4,000 rpm. The engine is mated to a 5-speed gearbox. It features 35 mm telescopic front forks and twin adjustable rear shock absorbers. Brakes come in the form of 280 mm and 240 mm discs in the front and rear respectively.
