Royal Enfield Classic, Thunderbird get optional alloy wheels

Earlier this month, a Royal Enfield rider crashed as the aftermarket alloy wheel on his bike disintegrated. The video showed why one should avoid aftermarket wheels that may not be tested for durability. Instead, riders can now opt for the optional alloy wheels that Royal Enfield is offering for the Classic and Thunderbird models.

The new dual-tone alloy wheels are part of Royal Enfield's official parts catalogue and come in a 9-spoke design. Being an OEM offering, these wheels should be tougher than the cheaper, aftermarket options that are currently available in the market. Besides, Royal Enfield would have thoroughly tested these on their bikes before putting them up for sale as an official accessory.

The new wheels are available for both 350cc and 500cc versions of the Classic and Thunderbird and are reportedly priced at Rs. 10,000 for a set.
