Royal Enfield unveils Interceptor INT 650, Continental GT 650

Royal Enfield has unveiled two new twin-cylinder bikes at the EICMA motorcycle show in Milan, Italy. The Interceptor INT 650 and Continental GT 650 are powered by the recently developed 650cc, parallel twin-cylinder engine.

The Interceptor INT 650 is a street bike featuring classic styling. It is based around a tubular, double cradle frame. The overall length of the bike is 2,122 mm, the height is 1,165 mm and the width is 789 mm. The bike has a quilted twin seat that sits at 804 mm from the ground. The fuel tank can hold 13.7 litres, while the kerb weight of the bike is 202 kg. It gets a 174-mm ground clearance.

In the front, the bike has a round headlight of 7-inch diameter and a twin-pod instrument cluster. The handle bars have been raised for more leisurely riding style. There’s ample chrome all over the bike including on the headlamp housing, crankcase and transmission. The swept-up twin-exhaust pipes are also finished in chrome.

The Continental GT 650 comes in a classic café racer design with an optional single seat configuration. The cafe racer styled fuel tank has deeper knee recesses and has a capacity of 12.5 litres. While, the overall length is similar to the Interceptor INT 650, thanks to clip-on handlebars, height has reduced to 1,024 mm and width is 744 mm. The seat height has also been lowered to 790 mm (793 mm in dual seat configuration). The Continental GT 650 weighs 198 kg.

Both the Interceptor INT 650 and Continental GT 650 use 41 mm telescopic front forks with 110 mm of travel. Twin coil-cover shocks offering 88 mm of travel make up the rear suspension. The bikes ride on 18-inch wire-spoke wheels. Brakes come in the form of 320 mm and 240 mm discs at the front and rear respectively. ABS is part of the standard equipment.

The new 648cc, air-oil cooled, parallel twin-cylinder engine uses fuel injection and produces 47 BHP @ 7,100 rpm and 52 Nm of torque @ 4,000 rpm. The engine is mated to a 6-speed gearbox via a slip/assist clutch.

Both bikes are offered in three colour options each in Standard and Retro Custom styles. The Interceptor INT 650 comes in Orange Crush, Ravishing Red and Silver Spectre shades, while the Continental GT 650 is offered in Ice Queen, Sea Nymph and Black Magic colour options.
