Royal Enfield's 650cc twins unveiled in India

Earlier this month, Royal Enfield unveiled the Interceptor INT 650 and Continental GT 650 at EICMA 2017 motorcycle show in Milan, Italy. The bikes were recently presented in India for the first time at Rider Mania 2017.

The Interceptor INT 650 is a street bike, while the Continental GT 650 is styled like a cafe racer and comes with an optional single-seat configuration. Both bikes have an overall length of 2,122 mm but differ in width and height. The Continental GT 650 is slightly lower and narrower than the Interceptor INT 650. Seat height of the cafe racer is also lower compared to the street bike and weighs 4 kg less than the Interceptor INT 650 (202 kg).

Both bikes share the same underpinnings, featuring 41 mm telescopic front forks and twin coil-over shocks at the rear. 18-inch wire-spoke wheels are standard, while braking is taken care of by a 320 mm front disc and a 240 mm disc at the rear. ABS is a standard feature on both bikes.

The Interceptor INT 650 and Continental GT 650 are powered by Royal Enfield’s new 648cc, air-oil cooled, parallel twin-cylinder engine. The fuel-injected engine produces 47 BHP @ 7,100 rpm and 52 Nm of torque @ 4,000 rpm and is paired with a 6-speed transmission via a slip/assist clutch.

Royal Enfield plans to launch the new 650cc offerings in India, however the bike maker hasn’t announced the official launch date yet.
