Rumour: 2015 Thar to be launched on July 22, 2015

The Mahindra Thar is expected to get a mid-life refresh soon. The 2015 version of this popular SUV is likely to be launched on July 22, 2015. Since early 2015, Mahindra Thar test mules have been spotted from time and again. A media report now indicates that this SUV might witness both cosmetic and mechanical changes.

Exteriors of the Thar get new bumpers front and rear, fender extensions and also gets a revised soft top with a slant at the back. A hard top might also be offered as an option, which has been a popular modification among current Thar owners.

The interiors of the Thar get a new beige dashboard with several parts like the gear lever, steering wheel, air-con controls derived from the Bolero. It also gets chrome rings around the dials and silver touches around the air-con vents to add a premium touch.

Overdrive also claims that the Thar is likely to use the 2.2 litre M-Hawk diesel engine that powers the Scorpio and the XUV500. Nothing has been confirmed regarding the power and torque output figures. Also, an optional mechanical locking differential - Mlocker from Eaton, is expected to be offered to improve its off-road capabilities.
