Rumour: 2018 Kawasaki Ninja ZX-10R bookings open

According to a media report, Kawasaki dealers have started accepting bookings for the 2018 Ninja ZX-10R. Booking amounts vary between Rs. 1-3 lakh depending on the dealership. The bike is rumoured to be launched later this month, while deliveries are expected to start by the end of July 2018. 

The ZX-10R will be imported as a semi-knocked down unit (SKD) and Kawasaki has reportedly commenced local assembly at its Chakan plant. This is expected reduce the price of the ZX-10R in India. Currently, the bike is priced at Rs. 18.80 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi).

The Kawasaki ZX-10R gets a twin spar, cast aluminium frame with 43 mm upside down front forks and rear monoshock suspension. Under the skin, the ZX-10R comes equipped with a 998 cc, in-line 4-cylinder engine that produces 207 BHP @ 13,000 rpm and 113.5 Nm of torque @ 11,500 rpm. The bike uses a RAM air intake system. Brakes come in the form a twin 330 mm semi-floating discs in the front with 4-piston radial calipers and a single 220 mm disc brake in the rear.

The Ninja ZX-10R competes with the Honda CBR1000RR and the Yamaha R1 in the litre-class segment.
