Rumour: 3rd-gen Porsche Cayenne to be launched in mid-2018

According to a media report, Porsche is likely to launch the third-generation Cayenne in India sometime around June 2018.

The new Cayenne is based on the MLB platform which also underpins the Audi Q7, Bentley Bentayga and the recently unveiled Lamborghini Urus. The new model is slightly larger than the outgoing Cayenne. It measures 4,918 mm in length, 1,983 mm in width and 1,696 mm in height, while the wheelbase is 2,895 mm.

Porsche has updated the exterior of the new Cayenne. The refreshed front end features new LED headlights and a grille that stretches across the front end. LED DRLs have been integrated into one of the slats in the grille. The coupe-like side profile looks almost identical to the 2nd-gen Cayenne. That said, the rear end has been revised and now features wraparound LED tail lights and thin LED strip that runs along the length of the tail gate.

The new Cayenne also gets updated interiors. The dashboard with its central touchscreen infotainment system and the flat centre console has been borrowed from the new Panamera. It gets a three-spoke, multi-functional steering wheel and a traditional 5-dial instrument cluster with a centrally-mounted analogue tachometer flanked by digital displays on either side.

In the international market, the new Cayenne is offered with a 3.0-litre, turbocharged V6 petrol with 335 BHP / 450 Nm. The Cayenne S comes with a 2.9-litre, twin-turbo V6 petrol engine that delivers 434 BHP and 550 Nm of torque. The top-spec Cayenne Turbo is powered by a 4.0-litre, twin-turbo V8 that puts out 540 BHP and 770 Nm of peak torque. All versions come with 8-speed automatic transmissions and all-wheel drive. Porsche hasn’t announced any diesel options for the Cayenne.
