Rumour: 7-seat Jeep Compass to get more powerful 2.0L diesel

Jeep could offer a 197 BHP, 2.0L diesel engine in the Compass 7-seater.

According to a media report, the upcoming 7-seater Jeep Compass could be offered with a more powerful 2.0-litre diesel engine.

At present, the 5-seater Compass is powered by a 2.0-litre, 4-cylinder diesel engine that puts out 170 BHP and 350 Nm. However, in the 7-seater version, this engine is rumoured to be tuned to 197 BHP and it could be paired with a 9-speed automatic transmission.

The 7-seat version of the Compass will share its underpinnings with the 5-seat version that is currently on sale. It will be longer and will have a stretched wheelbase as well. These modifications would liberate space for a third row of seats, while also improving the overall cabin space. It is likely to offer features such as a panoramic sunroof, automatic LED headlights, 18-inch alloy wheels and cruise control.

The 7-seater Compass will compete with the likes of the Toyota Fortuner, MG Gloster and Ford Endeavour. It could be launched sometime next year.
