Rumour: Audi to launch A3 cabriolet in India next month

German luxury carmaker Audi is gearing up to expand its range of cars in India with the launch the A3 cabriolet. If media reports are anything to go by, the car could be introduced in December.

The A3 cabriolet will have a 2-door, 4-seater configuration with a conventional foldable soft top. Audi claims that it can be opened or closed in 18 seconds while the car is being driven at speeds up to 50 kph.

Like the sedan, the cabriolet is expected to be powered by a 1.8-litre, turbocharged, 4-cylinder 40TFSI petrol engine that produces 178 bhp and 350Nm of torque. The 2.0-litre 35TDI from the sedan, which develops 141 bhp and 320 Nm of torque could also be offered. Even the interiors and equipment of the cabriolet are expected to be similar to that of the sedan.

The A3 cabriolet will be imported as a CBU and is likely to cost in the Rs. 45-50 lakh price bracket.
