Rumour: BMW Motorrad postpones G 310 R's India launch to 2018

According to some media reports, BMW Motorrad has once again delayed the India launch of its entry-level naked motorcycle - the G 310 R. Previously scheduled to go on sale in India in the second half of 2017, the BMW G 310 R will now likely be launched next year.

BMW Motorrad made its official entry in India in April this year. However, at the time of its debut, the company didn't launch the G 310 R. The primary reason behind this step was said to be the bike maker's aim to expand its dealership network to establish a wider reach for its relatively mass-market offering. The company currently has just four dealerships across India and is still in the process of identifying and adding more retail infrastructure before the G 310 R is launched here.

Interestingly, the G 310 R is already being produced in India for the export markets. However, an India launch will happen only when the German bike maker is able to establish a dense retail network.

The G 310 R will be the most affordable bike in BMW Motorrad's range. Developed under the TVS - BMW alliance, it is powered by a 313 cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine that develops 34 BHP @ 9,500 rpm and 28 Nm of torque @ 7,500 rpm, while being mated to a 6-speed gearbox.
