These variants are positioned below the proper M cars like the M3 and X3 M.

BMW is reportedly planning to introduce M Performance variants of the 3-Series and X3 in India. These include the M340i and X3 M40i variants.

BMW's M Performance line-up is made up of slightly sportier versions of the regular models. These variants are positioned below the proper M cars like the M3 and X3 M.

Both the M340i and X3 M40i are powered by a 3.0-litre, 6-cylinder, turbo-petrol engine that puts out 369 BHP @ 5,500-6,500 rpm and 500 Nm @ 1,850-5,000 rpm. The engine is mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission and comes with an all-wheel drive system.

Both cars come with a sport bodykit and larger wheels. They also get upgraded suspension, brakes, differential and exhaust.
