Rumour: Chevrolet Trailblazer will come in one variant only

Chevrolet started testing the Trailblazer SUV in India earlier this year. Test mules of the car have been spotted on many occasions. Latest media reports suggest that in India, the Trailblazer will come in just one configuration - rear-wheel drive with automatic transmission.

The Trailblazer will be pitted against the Toyota Fortuner, Mitsubishi Pajero Sport and Ford Endeavour. All these vehicles are available with automatic as well as manual transmissions and an option of rear-wheel drive or four-wheel drive. In some cases, the companies also offer more than one engine option.

The Trailblazer too was expected to get various configurations. However, the company is planning to focus on customers that do not plan to venture off the road. While four-wheel drive has been dropped, features such as hill start assist and hill descent control are expected to be provided. Chevrolet is also likely to equip the car with a MyLink infotainment system that provides smartphone connectivity, streaming audio and video.

The Trailblazer is powered by a 2.8L, 4-cylinder, turbocharged diesel engine that produces close to 200 BHP and 500 Nm of torque.
