Rumour: Jeep Compass facelift launch on Jan 23; bookings open

The Compass facelift has been revealed in China and dealers here have started accepting bookings.

The Jeep Compass facelift is expected to be launched on Jan 23, 2021. Dealers are said to have started accepting bookings for the new model.

The updated Compass was unveiled at the 2020 Guangzhou International Motor Show. The SUV looks similar to the outgoing model but gets subtle changes like a slimmer grille, a new front bumper and LED headlamps.

On the inside, it gets a redesigned dashboard with a floating 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment head-unit that gets Amazon Alexa support, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity and can receive over-the-air updates. The SUV also gets a new 3-spoke steering wheel and a digital instrument cluster.

The Compass facelift will retain the same set of engines as before. These include the 2.0-litre, 4-cylinder diesel that produces 170 BHP and 350 Nm and the 1.4-litre turbo petrol engine that makes 161 BHP and 250 Nm. Both engines come with a 6-speed manual transmission as standard. The petrol is offered with a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic, while the diesel gets an optional 9-speed automatic.
