Rumour: Jeep India to launch Wrangler petrol by December-end

Jeep is reportedly planning to launch the petrol version of the Wrangler SUV in India by the end of December 2016. The automaker has already imported a few units of the Wrangler petrol into India.

The Wrangler was first launched in India earlier this year, along with the Jeep brand's debut in the country. It is sold in the five-door, Wrangler Unlimited guise. The diesel variant is equipped with a 2.8-litre, four-cylinder engine and is currently priced at Rs. 71.59 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi).

The petrol model is expected to be powered by a 3.6-litre Pentastar V6 engine that develops 281 BHP and 353 Nm of torque, while being mated to a 5-speed automatic gearbox. It will also be available in the five-door Unlimited guise.

The petrol model is expected to be slightly cheaper than the exorbitant price tag of the diesel Wrangler. Jeep is also planning to launch the petrol model of the Grand Cherokee in India in the near future.
