Rumour: Kia to debut sub-4 m SUV at 2020 Auto Expo

According to a media report, Kia is planning to unveil a sub-4 m compact SUV at the 2020 Auto Expo.

The currently unnamed compact SUV is expected to be based on the Hyundai QXi. While it will share its underpinnings with its Hyundai cousin, the Kia is likely to get a completely redesigned exterior and a different suspension setup.

The Kia compact SUV might be offered with a set of petrol and diesel engines. Reports suggest that it could get a 1.0-litre, turbocharged petrol unit producing around 116 BHP and a 1.5-litre diesel engine with an output of around 113 BHP.

Kia is gearing up to launch its first model in the Indian market next year. It will be an SUV based on the SP Concept. The carmaker's second offering is likely to be the rumoured sub-4 m SUV, which could rival the Tata Nexon, Maruti Vitara Brezza and the Ford EcoSport in the Indian market.
