Rumour: Kia's first SUV to get 1.4L turbo petrol engine

According to a media report, Kia is likely to offer a 1.4-litre, turbocharged petrol engine in its upcoming SP Concept-based SUV. This variant could be introduced in 2020.

In addition to the engine, this variant is expected to get a body kit and different interior trim. The 1.4-litre engine is rumoured to develop 138 BHP and could be mated to a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission with paddle shifters. The car might also get a different suspension setup.

Kia's first SUV in India is rumoured to debut in August 2019. At launch, the car is expected to be offered with two engine options - a 1.5-litre petrol and a 1.5-litre diesel engine with 113 BHP. Transmission options are likely to include manual and automatic gearboxes.

The SP Concept-based SUV is expected to be priced in the Rs. 10-16 lakh range and is likely to come equipped with features like ventilated front seats, touchscreen infotainment system, on-board Wi-Fi, wireless charging and a 360-degree camera among others.
