Rumour: Mahindra planning a new electric hatchback, sedan

According to a media report, Mahindra is planning to develop a new electric hatchback. The carmaker is reportedly planning a new mid-size sedan as well.

Reports suggest that the new electric hatchback could be developed in collaboration with Pininfarina. According to Mahindra, an electric hatchback would be ideal for the shared mobility sector in India. The project would require an investment of $110-120 million.

Mahindra could develop the mid-size sedan with Ford as part of its strategic partnership with the American brand. It could be based off the Ford Aspire. Mahindra currently has the eVerito electric sedan in its portfolio. However, developing it further to meet future requirements would need additional investment.

Apart from these, Mahindra is also planning a range of new EVs. These include a KUV-based electric compact SUV (codenamed: S110) and a Ssangyong-based S210.
