Rumour: Mahindra TUV300 Plus to get a 1.99L diesel engine

Mahindra has been working on a long wheelbase version of the TUV300 and many test mules of the same have been spotted. The new model will be called TUV300 Plus and is expected to replace the Xylo. Now, a media report suggests that it could get a downsized 1.99-litre mHawk diesel engine.

The report suggests that the 1.99-litre diesel engine is the same unit available on the Scorpio and XUV500 sold in Delhi-NCR as a result of the ban on diesel engines greater than 2,000cc. It is a downsized version of the 2.2-litre mHawk unit and it will be further detuned for use in the TUV300 Plus.

Now, the longer wheelbase of the TUV300 Plus would help increase overall interior space. Mahindra might also offer a front-facing third row of seats as a result. Although, the side-facing seats currently available on the TUV300 could be offered as standard fitment.

Mahindra is also planning to launch a new top-spec T10 variant to the sub 4-meter TUV300, pricing for which should be announced this festive season. This version is offered with the 1.5-litre diesel engine in two tunes - mHawk 80 with 84 BHP and 230 Nm and mHawk 100 producing 100 BHP and 240 Nm of peak torque.
