Rumour: Mahindra XUV300 to get AMT option

According to a media report, Mahindra is likely to offer the XUV300 with an automated manual transmission (AMT).

The Mahindra XUV300 will be launched on February 14, 2019. At launch, the Ssangyong Tivoli-based SUV is expected to be offered with a 1.2-litre, petrol engine that produces 110 BHP @ 5,000 rpm and 200 Nm of torque @ 2,000-3,500 rpm along with a 1.5-litre, diesel engine that puts out 115 BHP @ 3,750 rpm and 300 Nm @ 1,500-2,500 rpm. Both engines are likely to be paired with a 6-speed manual gearbox.

Reports suggest that the diesel version is likely to get a Magnetti-Marelli sourced AMT gearbox. Later, it could be replaced with an Aisin-sourced torque converter automatic. The introduction of the new automatic gearbox could coincide with the launch of BS-VI compliant engines.

Currently, there are no reports of an AMT gearbox being offered on the petrol version of the XUV300.
