Thank you to the Team-BHP fan (he prefers to remain anonymous) who sent this information in. Heartfelt gratitude for sharing it with other enthusiasts!

Earlier this year, we had reported that Maruti Suzuki was developing automated manual transmission (AMT)-equipped versions of the Wagon R and Stingray (click here to read report). We have received information that dispatches of the Wagon R and Stingray AMT will start as early as today.

The Wagon R and Stingray AMT are likely to be available in both LXi and VXi trim levels. Like other AMT models from Maruti Suzuki, the cars will get an Auto Gear Shift badge.

The Wagon R and Stingray are powered by the same 998cc, 3-cylinder, K10B petrol engine that is found in the Celerio and Alto K10 hatchbacks. This engine develops 67 BHP and 90 Nm of torque and is mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox. The Auto Gear Shift versions will use the same Magneti Marelli-sourced 5-speed AMT unit as their siblings.
