Rumour: Mercedes-Benz to launch E400 cabriolet in early 2015

German luxury carmaker Mercedes-Benz is rumoured to be planning to launch the 2015 E-Class cabriolet in India early next year.

Mercedes-Benz launched the facelifted E-Class sedan in June 2013. The cabriolet, which is based on the sedan, gets changes to the exteriors and interiors on similar lines. The car has a 2-door, 4-seater configuration with an electric soft-top roof that Mercedes-Benz claims can be folded into the boot in 20 seconds. The cabriolet comes with an AIRCAP system consisting of a wind deflector above the windshield, which prevents drafts during top-down driving. The car also has an AIRSCARF neck-level heating system, which blows out warmed air through adjustable vents located beneath each front head restraint.

The E-Class cabriolet will be available in only one variant - the range-topping E400. The car has a 3.0-litre, twin-turbocharged, V6 petrol engine capable of producing 329 bhp and 480 Nm of torque. The engine is mated to a 7G-Tronic Plus automatic gearbox. Mercedes-Benz claims that the car is capable of accelerating from 0-100 kph in 5.3 seconds and achieves an electronically limited top speed of 250 kph.

The E400 will be brought to India through the CBU route and is expected to be priced at Rs. 90 lakh (approximately).
