Rumour: Mercedes mulling LWB E-Class (W213) for India

German luxury carmaker Mercedes-Benz is rumoured to be considering a long wheelbase version of the next-generation E-Class sedan for the Indian market.

The next-generation E-Class, codenamed W213, is scheduled to go on sale in 2017. The long wheelbase version, which is likely to be the called E-Class L, will be positioned between the regular E-Class and the company's flagship S-Class sedan. The car will target customers who want S-Class levels of space and comfort at a lower cost. It will be an ideal option for those looking for a spacious chauffeur-driven car.

Mercedes-Benz does have a long wheelbase version of the current E-Class as well which is 14 cm longer than the regular E-Class. The car is sold only in China and cannot be sold in India as it is built as a left-hand drive only.
