Rumour: A premium Ertiga variant coming on August 21, 2019

According to a media report, a premium version of the Maruti Ertiga is likely to be launched on August 21, 2019.

The new MPV may not be the Ertiga Cross as reported earlier but a more upmarket variant of the standard Ertiga that could be sold through Nexa outlets. It is expected to be based on the same Heartect platform as the standard Ertiga. It could be offered in a 6-seat configuration with captain seats in the second row. The new model could get improved interiors and features.

Spy images suggest that the car could get a larger grille with a horizontal bar in the centre along with new front bumper and headlamp clusters. It could also get flared wheel arches, side skirts, roof rails, ORVMs with integrated turn signals and alloy wheels.

The new version of the Ertiga is expected to be offered with a 1.5-litre, 4-cylinder petrol engine with mild-hybrid technology. In the standard Ertiga, this unit puts out 103 BHP and 138 Nm of torque and comes paired with either a 5-speed manual or 4-speed automatic transmission. The 1.5-litre diesel engine could be available until BS-VI regulations come into effect.
