Rumour: Range Rover Velar to launch in India in Nov 2017

Land Rover will likely launch the Range Rover Velar in India in the month of November this year. The said information has been revealed by Rohit Suri, Managing Director of Jaguar Land Rover India.

The Velar was internationally unveiled in March 2017. It is the fourth product in the Range Rover series and has been slotted between the Range Rover Evoque and the Range Rover Sport. Built on Land Rover's lightweight aluminium platform, the Velar retains most of the design characteristics of its Range Rover siblings, though the overall design is a bit smoother as compared to the other models.

Internationally, the Velar comes with 2.0-litre petrol and diesel engines in entry level trims and 3.0-litre V6 diesel and petrol engines in the higher variants. Transmission duties are handled by an 8-speed ZF automatic transmission, while power is sent to all four wheels. The Range Rover Velar will also get features like Terrain Response 2, active rear locking e-differential and torque vectoring.

Bookings for the Range Rover Velar have already commenced at company dealerships across India. Once launched, the Velar will compete in the Indian market against the likes of the Audi Q7, Volvo XC90, BMW X5 and Porsche Macan.
