Rumour: Skoda Kylaq may get a new CNG variant by early 2026

Currently, the Skoda Kylaq has a single 1.0-litre turbo-petrol engine option.

Skoda plans to introduce a new variant of the Kylaq in order to boost the appeal of its new sub-compact SUV. While details are scarce, reports suggest that a CNG version of the Kylaq could be on the cards.

Skoda India Brand Director Ashish Gupta said that the new variant could be launched sometime later this year or in early 2026. He further mentioned it would be positioned in the lower range of the portfolio, enhancing the options for Kylaq customers.

Unlike brands like Maruti Suzuki, Tata, Mahindra and Kia, which have multiple powertrain options for their compact SUVs, the Kylaq has a single 1.0-litre turbo-petrol engine option. CNG has become a popular choice of powertrain in this segment. Therefore, it would make sense for Skoda to offer a CNG option on the Kylaq.

That being said, Skoda hasn’t said anything specific about the new variant, nor has there been any confirmation about a CNG version.
