Rumour: Skoda Rapid Monte Carlo edition India launch soon

According to media reports, the Skoda Rapid Monte Carlo edition is expected to be launched in India soon. It will essentially be a cosmetically tweaked version of the facelifted Rapid, which was recently launched in the country.

Skoda globally introduced the Rapid Monte Carlo last year to celebrate the company's motorsport history. It gets various cosmetic enhancements giving it a sportier look. Changes on the outside include blacked out front grille, roof, alloy wheels, boot lid spoiler, wing mirrors and bumper and side skirt extensions. The car is expected to be introduced in an exclusive red paint shade.

On the inside, the Rapid Monte Carlo edition gets all-black upholstery with contrast stitching, a new flat-bottom steering wheel and metal finished pedals.

There are no mechanical changes expected on the special edition model. It is thus likely to be powered by the same 1.5-litre diesel and 1.6-litre petrol engines as the regular Rapid sedan.

In addition to the Rapid Monte Carlo, Skoda is also expected to launch the Octavia RS and Octavia Black Edition, both of which are special edition models of the Octavia sedan.
