Rumour: Tata Motors ends production of BS4-compliant Vista

With the launch of the new Bolt hatchback imminent, Tata Motors is rumoured to have stopped production of the BS4-compliant version of the Vista. The move will ensure that the Bolt’s sales are not threatened by its older sibling.

The BS4-compliant Vista was powered by a 1.3-litre, diesel engine from Fiat which produces 74 bhp and 190 Nm of torque. The same engine will make its way to the Bolt. The car will also get a 1.2-litre, 4-cylinder Revotron turbocharged petrol unit that develops 84 bhp and 140 Nm of torque. Both engines will be mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox. The diesel version of the car is rumoured to be getting an optional Automated Manual Transmission as well.

Coming back to the Vista, the car will continue in production in the basic LS variant with the BS3-compliant TDI engine for the moment. This will mean that the Vista’s market will be restricted to tier 2 and tier 3 cities only, where BS4 emission norms have not been implemented as yet. The Vista LS comes with features like power steering, air conditioning, dual tone interiors, MID and engine immobiliser. The car is powered by a 1.4-litre diesel engine that makes 70 bhp and 135 Nm of torque.

In a move to cut costs, Tata Motors will also stop giving a spare bulb kit that has been provided with the Vista and Manza during the time of delivery.
