Rumour: Tata Motors to launch all-electric Tiago in September

Tata Motors might introduce their first electric car in September this year. An all-electric car based on the Tiago is believed to be rolled-off in the coming months.

Tata Motors European Technical Center (TMETC) has been working on an all-electric concept based on the Bolt for some time now. The all-electric powertrain developed for the Bolt EV prototype will reportedly feature on the Tiago EV

According to media reports, the Tiago's low-cost platform should help Tata Motors to offset some of the costs of battery and other powertrain components. This should allow the company to offer the Tiago EV at a competitive price. If launched, the Tiago EV will compete with the Mahindra e2o Plus in a niche segment of the market.

Moreover, Tata is also believed to be working on an all-electric version of the Nano. With the recent tax reforms that favor electric cars, more manufacturers would be looking at this segment of the market for future expansion.
