Rumour: Tata Nexon JTP on cards

According to a media report, Tata is planning a JTP version of the Nexon. However, it may not be launched until 2020.

The Tiago JTP is rumoured to be launched around Diwali this year and will be followed by the Tigor JTP. Much like the Tiago and the Tigor, the Nexon JTP could receive a sporty body kit along with other bits like projector headlamps, new design alloy wheels and sporty interiors with leather upholstery and aluminium pedals.

There is no word yet on the engine that will power the Nexon JTP. However, reports suggest that it might get a 1.2-litre, 3-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine revised to meet BS-VI emission regulations. Besides this, the car could get minor suspension and gearbox tweaks as well.

The Ford EcoSport S will be the Nexon JTP's main rival. It is powered by a 1.0-litre, 3-cylinder turbocharged petrol unit that puts out 123 BHP @ 6,000 rpm and 170 Nm of peak torque @ 1,500-4,500 rpm and is paired to a 6-speed manual transmission.
