Rumour: Tata Tiago launch on March 28

Once again, rumours have cropped up about the launch date of Tata's newest hatchback - the Tiago. A popular automotive magazine states that the car is going to be launched on March 28, 2016. However, Tata Motors has not confirmed it.

The Tiago, formerly known as the Zica, was given in the hands of auto journalists (to review) in the month of December 2015. It's been nearly three months since, and the car is yet to hit showrooms. This could be partly blamed on the company's poor planning and partly, on the Zika virus, which played spoilsport and caused further delay.

Tata's new hatchback will be positioned below the slow-selling Bolt and is likely to rival cars like the Hyundai Grand i10 and the Maruti Suzuki Celerio, both of which are doing respectable numbers in the Indian car market. With all the delays in the launch of the Tiago, only time will tell whether or not Tata Motors is able to persuade customers of its rival brands to visit its showrooms.
