Tata Motors has been testing a compact sedan based on the upcoming Zica hatchback. Test mules of the vehicle have been spotted on numerous occasions.

Except for the rear end, the compact sedan is expected to resemble its hatchback sibling. At the front, it will get a smiling honeycomb mesh grille and sweptback headlamps. The car has a sloping roof line and shoulder line that rises towards the rear. The boot of the vehicle looks well integrated into the design.

The compact sedan is likely to share its interiors with the hatchback. It is expected to be equipped with features such as a multi-function steering wheel, Harman-developed infotainment system and air-conditioning.

Tata Motors is likely to carry over the 1.2-litre petrol and 1.05-litre diesel engines and the 5-speed manual transmission from the hatchback to the compact sedan.

The compact sedan will be rolled out of the Tata Motors plant in Sanand, Gujarat. According to a report by oncars.in, the car will be showcased at the upcoming 2016 Auto Expo.
