Rumour: Toyota Land Cruiser 300 India launch by end-2021

The Land Cruiser 300 is offered with twin-turbo V6 petrol and diesel engine options. It does not get a V8 this time around.

The new generation Toyota Land Cruiser 300 made its debut in the international market earlier this month. Now, rumours suggest that the SUV could arrive at our shores by end-2021. It is likely to be imported via the CBU route.

The new Land Cruiser is based on Toyota's TNGA-F platform, which is claimed to be lighter yet more rigid than before. As a result, the SUV is said to weigh 200 kg less than the outgoing model.

Toyota has retained the boxy styling of the previous generation but the new front fascia certainly makes it look more imposing. The SUV has squared-off wheel arches and U-shaped LED tail lights.

The interior of the car has also been updated as per current trends. It comes with a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system, digital instrument cluster, wireless charging, adaptive cruise control as well as heated and ventilated seats.

In the international market, the Land Cruiser 300 is offered with two engine options - a 3.5-litre twin-turbocharged V6 petrol engine producing 409 BHP and 650 Nm and a 3.3-litre twin-turbo V6 diesel engine churning out 304.5 BHP and 700 Nm. Both engines come paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission unit.
