Rumour: Toyota-Suzuki working on a new mid-engined sports car

The mid-engined sports car is expected to make its debut in 2025.

According to media reports, Toyota, Suzuki and Daihatsu are rumoured to be working on a new mid-engined sports car. While details are scarce, reports do suggest that the new sports car will be based on an all-new platform. The new mid-engined sports car, formed by the collaboration between the three Japanese brands, is said to have its global debut in 2025.

Reports also suggest that the new mid-engined sports car could come powered by Suzuki's 1.0-litre turbocharged engine. However, the sports car is also rumoured to make use of the brand's 1.4-litre turbo unit, powering the Swift Sport.

Toyota and Suzuki have been in a partnership for many years now. Both carmakers have introduced multiple re-badged car models in various Asian markets. Daihatsu, on the other hand, is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Toyota.
