Volvo is set to launch the XC40 on July 4, 2018. Bookings for the first 200 units have already commenced and the token amount has been set at Rs. 5 lakh.
The XC40 is based on Volvo's Compact Modular Architecture (CMA) and will be imported as a completely built unit (CBU). The front fascia of the car looks similar to its larger siblings like the XC60 and XC90. It has LED headlamps with T-shaped LED DRLs and an upright grille. The rear features L-shaped tail lights and a dual-tone bumper with twin chrome exhaust tips.
The XC40 gets leather interiors with a 3-spoke multi-functional steering wheel and a twin-dial digital instrument cluster. The centre console houses a vertically oriented touchscreen infotainment system.
In India, the XC40 will reportedly be offered in a single R-Design trim featuring a 2.0-litre, 4-cylinder diesel engine that develops 188 BHP @ 4,000 rpm and 400 Nm of torque @ 1,750-2,500 rpm, which comes paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission. It will compete with the BMW X1, Audi Q3 and the likes in the Indian market.
