Scoop: Mahindra removes Driver knee Airbag from XUV300 W8(O)

The Mahindra XUV300 shall, henceforth, come with six airbags (front, side & curtain) instead of seven. The W8 and W8(O) variants came with door ajar lamps on the front doors, which had been removed earlier this month.

Mahindra has silently deleted the seventh (driver knee protection) airbag from the W8(O) variant of the XUV300. The sub-4 m crossover shall, henceforth, come with six airbags (front, side & curtain) instead of seven.

When it was launched in 2019, the XUV300 came with a 5-star NCAP crash test rating. The car was equipped with safety features such as ABS + EBD, ISOFIX child seat mounts, impact-sensitive door locks and disc brakes all-around as standard. The top variant also got 7 airbags, 3-point seatbelts for all seats, front parking sensors and seatbelt reminders for the rear seat. It also came with TPMS, a tyre position display and a reversing camera. Additionally, the W8 and W8(O) variants came with door ajar lamps on the front doors. These had been removed earlier this month.

The Mahindra XUV300 comes in W4, W6, W8 and W8(O) variants. Engine options include a 1.2-litre petrol engine developing 109 BHP & 200 Nm and a 1.5-litre diesel unit putting out 115 BHP & 300 Nm. Both engines come with 6-speed manual and automated manual transmissions (AMT).
