Scoop! BS6 Tata Hexa 4X4 variant spied

Will the Hexa BS6 get a 4-wheel drive option in XMA trim?

A possible new variant of the Tata Hexa has been spotted near the Tata Motors factory. The badging on the car suggests that it could be an XMA 4X4 variant.

The test car had 4X4 badging on the front passenger side panel and an XMA badge on the tail gate. Besides the badging, the car looks like a regular Hexa. It has twin exhausts and chrome trim along the window line and on top of the tail lamp clusters. Unlike the top-spec Hexa which gets dual-tone alloys, this variant is riding on steel wheels.

Tata Motors is yet to introduce the BS6-compliant Hexa in the Indian market. It is expected to come with the same 2.2-litre Varicor diesel engine that will be updated to comply with the new emission norms.

The BS4 version of the Hexa was offered with a 2.2-litre, 4-cylinder diesel engine in two states of tune. The base trim had 148 BHP @ 4,000 rpm and 320 Nm @ 1500-3000 rpm. Higher variants had the same engine but with 154 BHP @ 4,000 rpm and 400 Nm @ 1750-2500 rpm. Transmission options included a 5-speed manual, 6-speed manual and 6-speed automatic.
